Password Protected Directories / Folders

     LawFirmHosting.com can also provide your web site with password protected directories / folders for sensitive, confidential web pages and documents. Or your entire web site can be password protected. With password protection, confidential web pages and/or documents (in any format) can be uploaded and  linked to your site that only authorized users can access. Unauthorized access is blocked. This is useful for providing clients or colleagues access to confidential files without the risk of sending by email. Also useful for granting access to persons on the road.

Case sensitive.  In most browsers, once you access the secure page, your open browser 'remembers' the password and you can freely enter and exit. If you close the browser window and re-attempt entry, you will need to type the user name and password again. Try it a few times and use an incorrect password to test it.

     The fee for a self-managed password protected directory is $75.00 set up and $9.99 /mo. which includes one username and password and the creation of an optional introductory web page for authorized users to access using your  text. (Note that any documents uploaded count toward your total allotted space per the Hosting Plan you chose). 

    You will need a free FTP program to upload your documents. FTP (File Transfer Protocol) is used for transferring files (HTML pages, graphics, etc.) to/from your server. We suggest using programs specifically designed for FTP'ing (transferring) your files. We recommend  FileZilla (ver. 1.9.9) (Right Click and Save Target As). Download it here.
